Macro Hunting Part 2

10 July 2010 - It was Saturday Morning. While I was still dwelling in sweet dreamland, I was woken up dreadfully by the hot summer sun. Feeling disgusted, I took a quick peek out of the window but the sight instantly took my mind off the layer of gross sweat that I was wearing. The clear blue sky seemingly serenaded my mood silently with John Cage's 4'33".

I jumped out from my bed, as opposed to a chair, as if I was going to give a standing ovation to Cage's most brilliant work. I knew exactly what to do next. The day was perfect for the one task, Macro Photography of Flowers.

After a quick shower, I opened up my dry box, picked up Canon 450D DSLR, 70-300mm Zoom Lens, Macro Lens Kit and my newly bought Velbon carbon-fibre tripod, and off I went!

The flower field was only 10-mins walk away from my dormitory. Photos taken last summer at the same place can be found here (Macro Hunting).

This time, I tried a new combination of lenses, EF70-300mm F4-5.6 IS USM + DMW-LC55 close-up lens, and the results surprised me!!

What is this?

These super macros were taken hand-held! EF70-300mm F4-5.6 IS USM + DMW-LC55 allowed me to go super close yet stable. I shall try EF70-300mm F4-5.6 IS USM + Raynox DCR-250 for super duper macro the next time.

Thanks for reading. I will be back for more macros in August!
